The staff and providers of McLaughlin Young Employee Services
are particularly skilled in dealing with drugs and alcohol
in the workplace. They work not only with substance and alcohol
abusers, but also with Medical Review Officers and employers
on case management activities for employees in safety-sensitive
positions. These important services are administered and provided
by Substance Abuse Professionals as defined by the Department
of Transportation (DOT).
DOT Compliance - McLaughlin Young meets the Department of Transportation's
requirements for Substance Abuse Professionals in the Return
to Duty process for DOT-covered employees.
Case Management - McLaughlin Young assigns each substance abuse
case a case manager who evaluates the diagnosis, confirms that
all releases and forms are received, reviews recommendations
with the Substance Abuse Professional and notifies appropriate
parties of the individual's status. This case manager continues
to monitor and report compliance as needed.
Trainings - Substance Abuse Professionals are available through
McLaughlin Young to provide on-site substance abuse trainings
to management and employees. Employees will obtain a general
awareness of the substances and their effects, signs of substance
abuse and a review of company policy and procedures for confronting
substance abuse. In addition, management will be trained on
role definition in dealing with a troubled employee.
